The scoop on how I set goals

It’s the beginning of 2021 and we’re either all about resolutions or we are just glad 2020 is over! Lol. For those of us that are all about resolutions kudos to you! I pray you stick with them.

There are tons of people though who set out with good intentions and a list of resolutions that fall apart by January 5th. So I ask this question…why do we wait on January 1st, Mondays or the first of the month to start something new? Are these days easier to keep up with or is it that we may think there is something magical about these dates to help us stay on track?

My “opinion’ is this…

I personally don’t think this is the case and I’m not big on resolutions either. I am big on the goals though. Like BIG on the goals. Why? Because goals can be set and achieved anytime, any day at any place in your life. If you think about it you only hear about resolutions when it’s time for the New Year. I use to be on the resolution train though and I failed at it miserably every year but once I got a system to set a goal though…I started to see some action.

Game on boo. GAME ON.

Keep in mind I said there was a system. You can set goals all day long and be talking in the air with no results at all. I’ve learned everything has a system whether we realize it or not. We tend to call them routines in our day to day life. hmmmm….gotcha there didn’t I?

Since I feel like this is going to be a long post if I go into details on each point here this is what I’m going to do. I’m going to list my points and then share a vlog about the each point in greater detail so you can get it poppin’ this year. Great! Let’s get it.

12 points and a brainstorm…get your pens and paper ready!

  1. Seek God for direction ( a must in EV-ER-Y-THING!!!)
  2. Get clear on your path
    1. Clarity about what you’re doing and how you’re going to achieve it.
  3. Define and set your why (I mean why are you even doing this to start with?)
  4. Understand the value that comes from you reaching this goal (and the value in the process)
  5. WRITE IT DOWN. Not only write it down but put it where you can see it daily ( we need reminders more often than not)
  6. SPEAK IT DAILY. Speak it to yourself, speak it to God and if you must speak it to others (that you trust of course)
  7. TAKE ACTION (because faith without what…is what?)
  8. Track your progress (how else are you going to do if you reached the goal or not?)
  9. Thank God for the growth, lessons and setbacks (because life happens…find joy in it all)
  10. Be ready to shift if and when needed…because things change all the time. 2020 taught us that.
  11. REPEAT.
  12. Bonus point:
    1. Remember it is God’s plans NOT YOURS.

I remember that one time (more than one, let’s be real. lol) that I had plans of my own. I’m sure God laughed and was like GIRL BYE!! YOU THOUGHT! Lol. That’s another story for another day though. I hope you enjoy the vlog addition.

Let’s set some goals and knock them out the park! I wholeheartedly believe that with these steps, discipline and consistency you will see some results.
