Are you really one & done with your shampooing?

Family please shampoo your hair more than once. I use to think this was common knowledge but it isn’t. There is no shame or judgement but it’s time to share some knowledge. I hope this helps and gives you a little help on your journey.

Are you ready to begin? Let’s go…

L

When you go in to shampoo your hair first time it is only to break up the buildup and product in your. The first time you apply the shampoo it may not lather enough to thoroughly enough to completely remove all product and buildup. This varies based upon how long it’s been since you shampooed your hair, how much product, dirty, sweat, etc. is in your hair and on your scalp. This first shampoo is not cleansing your strands or scalp enough, ok. Especially if you have very thick hair. I don’t want to overload your senses with too much at once, because I can deep dive into this, so we will discuss that portion about thicker hair later.

The shampoo will lather quicker and with less product as the dirt and buildup are removed. Have you ever noticed by the second or third shampoo you have a full foamy action going? Back in the day I was advised you would be able to hear a squeaking sound when it’s clean (this is just an example I was taught back when I was in cosmetology school, I’m not advising this for every single shampoo). I do recommend no less than two shampoos to cleanse the hair at minimum if you are shampooing at home and thorough check of the hair and scalp before conditioning to make sure it is free of debris.

At Metamorphosis, I personally do a three step Metamorphosis cleanse at the salon with either an express conditioning or a treatment with every service. The shampoos can be altered based on client allergies, dermatologist prescribed products. This also applies if they have color treated or keratin treated hair. In another post, I will chat about various type of shampoos and how to use them.

For now, keep in mind the foundations to any great style is a clean, healthy canvas and a great cut!
